Outdoor Education Leadership Centre Trip

Where: Owen P.S in the Library
Dear Parent / Guardian
We are planning an exciting trip to Camp Muskoka Outdoor Education Leadership Centre for our grade 6 students from Monday, October 24th , 2016 to Wednesday, October 26th , 2016.
The Camp Muskoka overnight experience offers students a great opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills that will benefit the entire school community. While at Camp Muskoka, students will be submerged in a beautiful, natural forest setting where they will have the opportunity to experience numerous hands-on, curriculum-linked educational and recreational activities. Camp Muskoka’s teaching staff specializes in leadership training and team building workshops, both of which will be integrated throughout the program.
While this type of trip normally costs more than $450 per student, Camp Muskoka has offered a special promotion enabling us to experience an all-inclusive 3 Day, 2 Night Outdoor Education (meals, accommodations, bus, programs and taxes) for only $300 per student.
The staff of Camp Muskoka will be hosting a parent information night at Owen P.S to inform parents of the details of the trip as well as answer any questions. Brochures will be provided to all that attend, in the meantime, for more information on Camp Muskoka please feel free to visit the Outdoor Education section of Camp Muskoka’s web site at www.campmuskoka.com.
Thank you for your valuable consideration. We look forward to seeing you and your student(s) at the information night.
The Food Drive Challenge is on! Let's show Dunlace PS and Bessborough that we are still the tops when it comes to school spirit and community support!
Every year, schools across Canada hold a Terry Fox event to raise money for cancer research. We are pleased to announce that Owen's Terry Fox Run/Walk is here!
We appreciate parents' generosity over the years and this year we will continue with past tradition in asking for parents and students to collect pledges from family and friends. You will have an option of filling in the pledge forms that will be sent home on September 26th, or donating online through Owen's dedicated donation page: https://www.terryfox.ca/OwenPSNorthYorkON
OUR GOAL IS TO REACH $10,000 (students will have until October 15th to collect all donations and return them to school)
We would appreciate any help you would be able to give us in support of this event. If you would like to volunteer on the walk with your child's class, please contact your child's teacher directly.
Some junior students in the school will be running the entire 3 km. If you are willing to run with that group, please notify Mrs. Moreau (Daiana.Moreau@tdsb.on.ca).
If you are interested in staffing a post along the route during the walk, please email Ericka Goldstein (Ericka.Goldstein@tdsb.on.ca).
All helpers need to be available between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Thank you again for your continued support and generosity!
Terry Fox Committee
The Owen School Advisory Council invites you to get involved with our dynamic and dedicated group! Please join us for our first meeting on Wednesday, September 28 at 6:30pm in the Library.
We are a volunteer group of parents who work with our school to help organize events, fundraise for our school, and do whatever else we can to make it a great place for our kids to learn! For anyone interested in participating in OSAC, we have a Facebook group to help keep everyone connected. Hope to see you on Sept. 28th!
Beginning on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, Owen Blvd. will be closed to all traffic from Fenn Avenue to Seneca Avenue for the next week. If you are dropping your child off, please use Seneca Avenue. Our bus loops are located on Gordon Road, creating a traffic congestion. If at possible, please walk your child to school. Thank you!
Dear Owen Families:
Welcome back! We hope that you had a fantastic summer and that you are ready for a new school year.

Please see the map that has been included in this email, which indicates where all grades will meet at 8:39 a.m.
