QUICK FACTS ABOUT SARAH’S FOOD DRIVE | SCHOOL CHALLENGE
· Since its inception, Sarah’s Food Drive has raised over 150,000 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank
· Sarah’s Food Drive is now the largest community-based food drive that supports Daily Bread Food Bank
· This year, Sarah and her sister Claire are trying to raise 80,000 pounds of food
· This year, 14 schools (7,000 students) will participate in the School Challenge
SCHOOL CHALLENGE | OWEN IS ON TEAM WEST!
The School Challenge is a week long campaign where students at participating schools are asked to bring non-perishable food items to school. These items will be collected and donated to Daily Bread Food Bank. Please check our website, under Claire’s Corner, for a list of food that are most needed.
OWEN is on TEAM WEST (we use Bayview Avenue as the dividing line).
ONLINE DONATION PAGE
In addition to the collection of non-perishable food items, we also have an online donation option. We have created a specific donation page for the Owen School Community. This is a great way to donate to Sarah’s Food Drive and also have your contributions count toward the School Challenge. Daily Bread considers every dollar donated as 1 pound of food. ($1=1 pound)
Please share it with other family members and friends—it is a great way to have extended family participate in the School Challenge
Thank you for participating in this years School Challenge. Your donations will make a real impact on so many people that count on the support of Daily Bread Food Bank.

Welcome back! We hope that you had a fantastic summer and that you are ready for a new school year.
On Tuesday, September 8, 2015, the 2015-16 school year will begin. Teachers will be outside beginning at 8:30 a.m. to help direct you to the right area for the 8:39 entry at the start of the day.

See you on Tuesday!
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mr. Rob Policicchio, our new Vice-Principal, who will be joining us this year. Welcome to Owen!
Details for first day instructions will be posted on Thursday, September 3, 2015. An email will also be sent out on that same day. New kindergarten parents can expect to receive a letter in the mail late next week.
Enjoy the last few days of summer!
Dear Owen Families:
Our roofing is nearly complete and we will have solar panels installed during the month of August. This installation should have minimal disruption to the school, both during the summer and when school begins.
Please see the letter below for the details. Please enjoy the rest of your summer!
