Join us in this program to explore your strategic side and develop your skills in some of the most popular games of all time. Together, we'll learn how to play some of the classic games of strategy like Chess, Risk, Monopoly, Checkers, Card Games and more. Students will learn strategies and tactics while gaining the confidence to play against any opponent, and will come away with a new appreciation and respect for some of the most wonderful games ever invented. 

Note to Parents: While this program is suitable to those with little to no experience, older children with some experience will also be challenged with more advanced strategy and gamesmanship. Board games are rich in learning opportunities and great for developing social skills.

For over 20 years, Ms. Grabke has taught numerous violin students at Havergal College, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Grabke violin studio. She is passionate about nurturing young talents and instilling the love of music in her students. Ms. Grabke is a member of The National Ballet of Canada Orchestra and a teacher for the Hammer Ban. She has worked with many great artists, recorded CDs and with CBC. 
In Owen Strings, your child will learn the basics of violin playing. Continual enrollment in the program will strengthen their playing. There is a $30.00 violin rental fee for each term. The violin can be kept between terms with a written note of promise to continue next term.

It’s time to invent,construct, and create-with LEGO® Gizmos and Gears! In this fun program,students will take their LEGO® knowledge up a notch, learning howto build varied gears and mechanisms out of LEGO®, and then using those to create the coolest gizmos! Learn about aspects of mechanics such as speed, torque, and direction as you build from models, instructions, and your own imagination! What gizmo do you have waiting up your sleeve?

In this fun program,we’ll explore different fabric arts such as knitting, and sewing as well as folding, draping and weaving techniques to make our own fashionable crafts. From hair clips, necklaces, and toys, to purses, jewelry boxes, and mp3 sleeves –we can make it all! Working with different materials,students will be able to design and craft many fashionable items they will be proud to take home,wear and use. Students will develop characters,create storyboards, and eventually create their very own comic book to bring home with them. From crazy concoctions to exploding creations,chemical reactions are all around us- but for many, the science behind these reactions remains a mystery. Join us in Chem-Mystery as we attempt to solve these chemistry mysteries! Students will learn about both physical and chemical reactions, and then explore the different facets of each. We might explore the marvels of bubbles,create magnetic slime, or create our own Oobleck and make it groove to a tune. Can you solve this Chem-Mystery?

Take art outside the box in Mixed Media Workshop! Mixed Media combines different mediums in the same piece of art, experimenting with how they complement and contrast with each other. In Mixed Media Workshop,we’ll learn about art combinations such as paint with pastels or weaving paired with sewing. We may even create large-scale collages or still life’s. "On the Move": Fitness, dance (Zumba) and active games. Chocolatiers around the world are known for creating signature, melt-in-your-mouth treats – from dark chocolate solids,cream filled bonbons and pralines to truffles, fudge, fruit dipped in chocolate and other sinfully delicious mouthfuls. In this yummy program we’ll learn what the professionals know about chocolate in all its incredible forms including culinary techniques specific to working with chocolate. We will explore some of the many ways to make desserts not only delicious, but beautiful too, focusing on the joy and craft of the professional pastry arts. Join us for some of this tasty dark magic and enjoy!

Not to worry parents –we include a wide variety of fruits in this program and we ensure that these tasty treats are all made with an effort to be as healthfully prepared as possible!

Join the Explore It! team for the Musical Theatre Programme and become a theatrical success! From scripts and music to costumes, hair, makeup and sets, our goal is to give young performers a truly professional theatrical experience. Session are 90 minutes in length and this program runs for an extended, 12 week term- culminating in a performance for family and friends after the last session on May 4. Participants will rehearse with our talented crew and finish with a polished performance in front of an audience. Everything is included in this package including a basic photo package as well as costuming, tickets and much, much more!

For the Winter/Spring 2018 term, we will be performing an On Broadway Review--with a focus on the best songs from hit Broadway shows on stage in New York right now. Musical Theatre has it all--from chorus lines to jazz hands, dance breaks and dazzling costumes-truly- what could be more amazing than a musical?!

Youth 11 years old or older who want to become a certified babysitter will have an opportunity to complete the Red Cross Babysitting Course. The Babysitting Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, basic child care skills and what to do in case of an emergency.

Students must bring a pencil and a 18" doll or stuffed animal. Students should bring a nut-free lunch and snacks.
